VISION STATEMENT:

Know God.

Love Each other.

Serve our neighbors.

It really is that simple.

We want to know God as deeply and purposefully as we can. As we learn of His love for us, we seek to share that with each other, growing together as His disciples. Disciples have a mission to carry out and ours is to serve our neighbors in ways that honor God. Through that service we strive to encourages others to become disciples of Christ.

Core Beliefs

GOD

We believe in one God, creator of all things, infinitely perfect and eternally existing in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit.  Being made in God’s image, we believe humans are built for community with God and each other (Ephesians 4:6; 1 Corinthians 8:6; 1 Timothy 2:5; Hebrews 11:3; 2 Corinthians 13:14; Matthew 28:19; Genesis 1:26; James 3:9; 1 John 1:3; Mark 12:30-31).

Jesus Christ

Through the miraculous virgin birth of Jesus, we believe in both the complete deity and total humanity of Christ.  As the perfect God-man, Jesus provides the perfect work of reuniting us to God through his death and resurrection (Isaiah 7:14; Matthew 1:23; Colossians 2:9; John 1:1-14; 1 Timothy 2:5; 1 Corinthians 15:21-23).

The Holy Spirit

We believe that anyone who truly embraces Jesus by grace through faith is regenerated by the Holy Spirit who comes to personally indwell every believer who is baptized into Christ.  We believe the Spirit’s primary work today is to lead and morally empower us to become more like Jesus (Acts 2:38; Acts 5:32; Titus 3:5-6; 1 Corinthians 6:19-20; John 3:5; 2 Corinthians 3:3, 18; Galatians 5:16-25).

Humanity

We believe that all people are created in the image of God in order to have a loving relationship with him.  Because of our choice to sin, every accountable person has been alienated from God.  Only God, through Christ, can forgive sin, heal humanity’s brokenness, and create a new community comprised of all ethnicities, races, and nationalities (James 3:9; Romans 3:23; Ephesians 2:1-10; Colossians 3:10; Ephesians 2:14-22).

Salvation

We believe that salvation cannot be earned but is entirely the result of God’s free gift of grace which calls us to obedience, discipleship, and personal accountability. We believe that a relationship with Christ comes through trusting faith, evidenced by baptism where we are united with Christ’s saving blood and receive the gift of the Holy Spirit (Ephesians 2:1-10; Titus 2:11-14; Titus 3:4-7; 1 Peter 2:16; Galatians 5:13; Romans 6:1-11; 1 Corinthians 12:13; Colossians 2:12-15).

The Bible

We believe the Bible is God’s inspired word and is the ultimate guide for life, doctrine, and conduct.  We believe that knowing the Bible is simply a means to the goal of knowing God personally (2 Timothy 3:16-17; 2 Peter 1:20-21; John 5:39-41; John 17:1-3; James 1:22-25; 1 Thessalonians 2:13; 2 Peter 3:15-16).

Resurrection

We believe every soul will be resurrected to enter into the natural result of their life’s trajectory, either eternal relationship with God in the new heavens and earth or eternal independence from God in hell (John 5:28-29; 1 Thessalonians 4:15-18; 2 Thessalonians 1:7-10; 1 Corinthians 15; Revelation 20:11-15).

Freedom in christ

We believe that Christ came to free us from the slavery of sin and the oppression of controlling religion.  We believe that every individual should be free to study God’s word themselves, form independent conclusions (beyond central matters), and hold to those convictions without fear of ridicule or disparagement (Galatians 5:1-15; Colossians 2:13-23; Matthew 11:28-30; Romans 14:10-15:7; Ephesians 4:1-6; 2 Peter 3:14-16; Ephesians 4:31-32; 2 Timothy 2:23-26),

Kingdom Life

We believe in the present kingdom of God as Christ comes to rule and reign in the hearts of people transformed by the Spirit, and the priority of the local church.  Love is the distinguishing sign of true disciples and leads us to break down walls (racial, social, political), make disciples, and show compassion, forgiveness and service to the surrounding community (1 Corinthians 1:2; Galatians 5:19-21; Ephesians 5:3-7; Colossians 3:5-13; 1 Corinthians 13; Hebrews 10:23-25; John 13:35; 2 Corinthians 5:16-21).
