Information About Our Worship Services, Classes & Ministry Opportunities
In-Person Worship Gatherings to Resume February 7th
Our elders and staff are currently planning to resume our Sunday worship gathering on February 7th. We plan to gather for worship at 9 am with Bible Classes following at 10:15 am. We will also offer a live-streamed service in an upstairs classroom that is “mask-required” for the entire service.
No physical gatherings in January
Due to the continued high COVID infection rates in our area, along with the current pace of vaccine distribution, our targeted reopening plans (which were initially for January) have now been adjusted. This updated plan is made with the best intentions based on facts currently available. It may be modified as newer information becomes available.
For now, we will continue to worship virtually only, with no physical gatherings at Northside through January. We recognize both the eagerness to return to our physical gatherings and the tremendous need for fellowship and relational connection among our members. Yet, the leadership does not feel that the current situation warrants reopening at this time at Northside.
To supplement our need for connection, we will be adding additional components to our online offerings. Beginning January 3, Jonathan will begin producing a group discussion guide to accompany the Sunday message. The discussion guide will be available each week on the Northside Nashville app. We encourage you to use this guide for discussion, especially within your family.
Additionally, we are forming multiple Zoom discussion groups throughout the day on Sundays. If you wish to participate, click the registration link below to join a group. An assigned facilitator will contact you with a Zoom link and will guide each group’s discussion.
If technology is a challenge for you, we encourage you to invite someone to join you for a phone conversation on Sundays centered around the discussion guide.
Hopefully, as we move into February and March, conditions will make it possible for more options for our gatherings. Thanks in advance for your patience, grace, and understanding. This strategy will remain in place until further updated by the Northside leadership. Watch your email and the Northside Nashville app for the latest updates and announcements.
UPDATED NOVEMBER 13th
Northside Family,
The coronavirus continues its explosive path in our area. If you watch the local news, you are aware that case counts are rising, hospital beds are in short supply and everyone is urged to use caution when gathering in groups. All these factors have led our shepherds to suspend our in-person gatherings (worship and Bible classes) for the remaining Sundays in November.
We will continue provide information and spiritual content through the following:
Weekly Worship services will be streamed on Facebook.
Jonathan will continue the Midweek devotionals each week on Wednesday on Facebook
Our website and Facebook will contain up-to-date information from our shepherds and staff
Communion packets will continue to be available inside the foyer doors for you to pick up at any time.
The shepherds will monitor local data and make plans for the month of December. Please continue to watch our Facebook page or church website for more details.
Blessings,
Your Shepherds
LET’S REOPEN NORTHSIDE!
Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love. Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace. —Ephesians 4:2-3
We are approaching the joyous regathering of our Northside family. We plan to worship on Sunday mornings at 9:00 am beginning June 21st. We understand things are going to be different when we return and we ask for your love and patience as we move through these changes. We are using the recommended protocols from local, state, and national entities to provide the best possible worship experience. We also reached out to Northside healthcare providers for their input and we thank them for their input as well as their service to our community.
The elders encourage any senior members, anyone with chronic underlying medical conditions, or anyone who feels uncomfortable due to the situation surrounding COVID-19 to stay at home during the reopening period. We love you and respect your feelings about not being ready to be in a large group. We will continue to stream our worship services on Facebook, as we always have.
Please stay home if you have a fever or are not feeling well.
Please allow additional time when arriving as some of the social distancing protocols may slow our entry into the building.
Please enter through the main foyer. All other doors will remain locked at this time to reduce unnecessary cleaning of unused spaces.
We encourage you to wear a mask if you feel comfortable, especially when entering and exiting the building. Wearing a face mask is not a requirement, but an act of love for your brothers and sisters.
Our Welcome Team and Safety Team will be assisting as we enter and leave the building.
Appropriately spaced seating will allow for social distancing, and we ask that families sit together. Our Safety Team will assist you in finding seating as you arrive. Please sit as close to the aisle as possible to maintain social distancing between the rows.
An optional seating area will be available upstairs. The Facebook worship will be streamed on the TVs. This is an option for those looking to participate in worship but in a smaller group.
Our reopening services will be a bit shorter than usual.
As you enter the foyer, you will have the opportunity to safely collect your communion set and also deposit your contribution. We will not be passing trays. We ask that at the end of service, you dispose of any remaining trash in receptacles by the exit doors.
The foyer restrooms will be available if needed. The family/handicapped bathroom also has a changing table if you should need it.
Water fountains will not be available at this time.
The nursery will not be attended, and will only be available if needed by nursing mothers.
Hand sanitizer will be available at the wall stations and in other locations within the foyer and worship area.
Sonshine Farm will not be gathering at this time.
Sunday and Wednesday classes will not be resuming until further notice.
We will not resume the church van pick-up service at this time.
We ask that you do not congregate inside the building but that you fellowship with one another outside in the parking areas.
Bulletins will continue to be available by email only.
Again, thank you for your patience and love as we move through this process. We’ll end with a phrase we haven’t used in several weeks — “See you Sunday!”
Some Good News for a Change!
May 1, 2020 — The elders announced a few weeks ago that we have ended our minister search and dissolved our search committee. Thank you, thank you to the committee for their hard work and diligence as we moved through this process, that at times, we thought would never end. But end it did, with joyous news!
We would like to formally announce that Jonathan Jones and his family will become part of our Northside family in late June/early July. Jonathan has been the preaching minister at Maryville Church of Christ for a little over ten years. His family includes his wife Michelle, son Ryder, and daughers Aralin and Britain. As soon as we can gather back together, we hope to be introducing you to the Jones family and we know you will greet them with a warm Northside welcome.

Tuesday, March 17
After much consideration for our church family, the decision has been made to cancel classes for Wednesday night this week. The elders will continue to update the Northside family on services and events in the future. As you plan your evening tomorrow, we encourage you to have your family gather at home to read and talk about Romans 12, which is the reading in the Northside Stay Strong 52 Chapters/52 Weeks for 2020. As always, pray to the Father for strength and discernment.
Friday, March 13
As we have noticed over the last few days, the COVID-19 virus, or Coronavirus as it is commonly called, has caused the suspension and cancellation of many events. As a body of believers, worship is central to our spiritual life. For that reason, we will continue to have worship Sunday while asking you to take the following precautions along with us.
Elderly adults and anyone with chronic medical conditions like heart disease, diabetes, or lung disease are encouraged to worship from home via our Facebook page. Also, if you are experiencing any cold, cough, fever, or illness, please stay home and stream the worship service.
Encourage each other to wash hands regularly for at least 20 seconds. Try singing Jesus Loves Me while you wash your hands. Also, use hand sanitizer that is at least 60% alcohol.
Special preparation for the Communion has been made to be certain there is no contamination. Volunteers are willing to bring communion to those at home. Please request this service by calling the church office or by email.
All Bible classes will meet for those who are well.
Worship services will continue for those who are well.
Sonshine Farm will continue to meet.
Worship services and classes will be live streamed as often as possible. Follow the link below to our Facebook page for online viewing.
If you need assistance at home, please call the church office or reach out by email.
Because of the flu and coronavirus, these remarks may change from week to week. Please return to this page often for future updates.
Prayer for a Pandemic
May we who are merely inconvenienced,
Remember those whose lives are at stake.
May we who have no risk factors,
Remember those most vulnerable.
May we who have the luxury of working from home,
Remember those who must choose between preserving their health or making their rent.
May we who have the flexibility to care for our children when their schools close,
Remember those who have no options.
May we who have to cancel our trips,
Remember those that have no safe place to go.
May we who are losing our margin money in the tumult of the economic market,
Remember those who have no margin at all.
May we who settle in for a quarantine at home,
Remember those who have no home.
As fear grips our country,
Let us choose to love.
During this time when we cannot physically wrap our arms around each other,
Let us yet find ways to bow the loving embrace of God to our neighbors.
Amen
