Funny Medicine "Laughter is the best medicine." It's an old adage that has long been held among members of the medical field. More recent scientific research has proved its worth. Studies by doctors at the University of Maryland have indicated that people who fail to raise a simple smile in uncomfortable or stressful situations are more likely to develop heart problems. The authors suggest that a daily dose of laughter – by watching a funny video for instance – should be recommended alongside exercise and a low-fat diet as a way of staying healthy. Another study has found that the healing power of humor can reduce pain and stimulate immune function in patients with cancer or diabetes or organ transplants. Perhaps scientific studies only validate what many have known for a long time. Who among us has not experienced the release of tension and the feeling of pure joy that comes by a really good old-fashioned belly laugh! It just makes sense that what is good for the spirit will also reflect itself upon the body. Perhaps a few amusing quotes and observations can add a vitamin of humor to your life today.
