Attitudes 101 For the last few weeks, the focus of WorldWideWords has been to look at the power each individual has to change their own life, as well as to impact the lives of others. We've talked about the role of one's attitude in that process. If you missed the series, the Archives link below can catch you up-to-date. In our church offices, we have a post-it area we call "Attitudes." Rotating signs and artwork reflect collected bits of wisdom, encouragement, humor, and quotes. The postings have been a source of encouragement and much needed reminders—you may want to recreate it in your own work area. You're invited to join us as we share a few favorites over the next weeks. We begin with quotes concerning attitudes, reputation, and legacy. ? Attitude is everything. Pick a good one. ? Encourage yourself. You'll fortify a relationship that will last a lifetime. ? Do not go abroad for happiness. It is a flower that blooms at thine own door. ? Keep your face to the sunshine and you cannot see the shadows. ? If you want a place in the sun, you've got to put up with a few blisters. ? Are you a thermometer or a thermostat? A thermometer merely reflects its environment. It des not make any attempt or have any ability to change. A thermostat changes its environment to meet needs and circumstances. ? Courage is important. Like a muscle, it is strengthened with use. ? Blessed are the flexible, for they shall not be bent out of shape. ? To affect the quality of the day, that is the highest of arts. ? Live your life so that if someone says, "Be Yourself," it's good advice. ? The reputation of a thousand years may be determined by the conduct of one hour. ? Every smallest stroke of virtue or vice leaves its never so little mark. ? A person moves in the direction of their most dominant thoughts. ? I expect to pass through this world but once. Any good I can do or any kindness I can show, let me do now, for I shall not pass this way again. ? Your life lies before you like a trail of unbroken snow. Be careful how you tread it, for every track will show. Join us next session for a focus on relationship attitudes.
