The Power of a Living God "Now to Him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to His power that is at work within us, to Him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen" (Ephesians 3:20- 21). This passage from the pen of the apostle Paul expresses one of the most beautiful promises in all of God's Word. It is a promise that should encourage and motivate everyone of us to greater zeal and service in the Kingdom of God. First, we serve a God who wants to bless us with good things. Jesus told His disciples in the first century, "If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him!" (Matthew 7:11). Our biggest problem (or at least, mine) is that we fail to ask. Or, when we do ask, we ask with the wrong motives (James 4:3). I want to challenge us to take God at His Word – ask Him to bless us with opportunities and open doors for expanding the Kingdom of God. Secondly, we do not live our lives in our own strength. God has promises to empower us with the same power that raised Jesus from the dead (Ephesians 2:19-20. In the words of the apostle Paul – "If God is for us, who can be against us?" John assures us, "The one who is in you in greater than the one who is in the world." Finally, our God is so great that He has promised to do more than we can even imagine if we will but fully commit our lives to Him. When an incredible promise from an incredible God! What great things have you imagined lately that our God can take and exceed beyond our wildest dreams? Let us go forward in the power of our Lord! Leslie S. Chapman
