Are you related to God? It was a cold windy January day in the large city. A young boy, perhaps 10 years old, was standing before a shoe store on Broadway, peering in with wistful eyes. He was arefooted and was shivering through his light tattered jacket. A lady approached the boy and said, "Young man, why are you looking so thoughtfully in that window?" "I was asking God to give me a pair of warm shoes," was the boy's reply. The lady took the boy by the hand, went into the store, and asked the clerk to get a half dozen pairs of socks for him. While the salesclerk gathered the socks, the lady asked for a basin of warm water and a towel. She took the little fellow to the back of the store and, removing her gloves, knelt down, and gently washed and dried his little feet. By this time, the appropriate size socks had been chosen and were slipped on the boy's feet. The lady then asked the clerk to measure the boy for shoes and, after a selection was made, slipped the new shoes over the new socks. The lady patted the boy on the head and said, "No doubt, my little fellow, you feel more comfortable now?" The stonished lad caught her by the hand and looking up into her face with tears in his eyes, asked, "Are you God's wife?" How about you and me? Could we be perceived as God's wife...or God's brother...or God's helper? What's your typical response to a need? Neglect? Indifference? Attention? Matthew 25:40 - "The King will reply, 'I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me.'"
