Singing Trees "Worship the LORD in the splendor of His holiness; tremble before Him, all the earth…Let the heavens rejoice, let the earth be glad; let the sea resound, and all that is in it; let the fields be jubilant, and everything in them. Then all the trees of the forest will sing for joy; they will sing before the LORD" (Psalm 96:9-13). Have you ever heard the trees singing or fields being jubilant? Psalm 96 portrays an interesting scene as the heavens and earth erupt in praise to our God. Nature is depicted as proclaiming the glory of the Lord who created them through joyful songs and adoration. This week marks the beginning of fall. Cool mornings proclaim the arrival of that time of year when God's glory is brilliantly portrayed in an array of colors that only the Creator of the universe could paint. In the next few weeks, red leaves will remind us of the blood of him who died for us. Purple shades all over the hills will recall the royalty of his birth and his enthronement at the right hand of God. Bright yellows will warn us not to be afraid to wear the Christian badge proudly. And the collage of vivid colors will all join together to praise him who brought them into existence. It is extremely easy in our fast-paced rush toward the holidays to forget to pause and listen to the symphony of praises poured out by God's creation all around us. David, the great psalmist of Israel, said it this way, "The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands. Day after day they pour forth speech; night after night they display knowledge. There is no speech or language where their voice is not heard" (Psalm 19:1-3). So in the days and weeks ahead, go out in the backyard, roll down your window as you drive, or just take a walk in the woods and listen to the music. Honoring the Glory of His Creation, Leslie S.
