I. The Parable Of The Soils. Luke
8:4-15

Through parables Jesus
announced the arrival (secrets) of the Kingdom of God. Lk. 8:10
-
In the parable of the soils, Jesus described
different anticipated responses to the preaching of the Gospel.
1. The soil along the pathway. Lk. 8:5
2. The soil among the rocks. Lk. 8:6
-
Those, whom the “rocky soil” represents, are
people who hear the Gospel, gladly accept it, but quickly fall
away in times of trouble. Lk. 8:13
II. “They Have No Root.” Lk. 8:13
-
A. Some people “fall away” because they do not
have sufficient spiritual foundations. Lk. 8:13
1. Following Christ is more than just “obeying the
Gospel.” Mt. 28:19-20
2. Christianity is a new
way of looking at life. Rom. 12:2; Col. 3:1-3
B. The early church “continued steadfastly in
the apostles’ doctrine.” Acts 2:42
1. Christians must allow the Word of God to shape
their worldview. Ps. 1:2-3
2. Scriptures serve multiple purposes—“ is
useful for teaching, rebuking, corrections and training in
righteousness.” 2 Tim. 3:16
III. “In The Time Of Testing.” Lk. 8:13; Mt. 13:21

Jesus warns that trials,
persecutions and times of testing are a condition of following
him. Mt. 13:21; Lk. 8:13

The Christian’s
worldview will always clash with the worldview of non-Christians.
2 Tim. 3:12

Jesus brings us a peace
that surpasses our understanding but in this world there is only
trouble. Jn. 16:33
